Busy Summer

Well, I think that summer ended a week or so ago...and I must've missed it. The weather has been beautiful here in Colorado and I've been so busy moving to a new house that I haven't had much time to stop and enjoy God's wonderful creation. Furthermore, I haven't had time to actually write on my blog spot.

One thing that I must note is two particular backpacking trips that I took in July and August. My church's youth group was planning on doing a teen boys' backpacking trip and I was honored to be a part in planning the function. I was tasked with finding a place that would not be too difficult of a hike, but would certainly provide the beauty of the high mountains along with some fishing opportunities.

We finally settled on Arapahoe Lakes in the James Peak Wilderness Area. It wasn't too far away from Westminster, offered extremely beautiful scenery, and should've offered better fishing than what we experienced. Actually, I'm just complaining because I happened to be one of the poor fellows who didn't catch a single fish. I usually pride myself on my fishing abilities, so getting beat by a couple of my collegues was a lesson in humility.

One of the things we noted as we hiked was the abundant wildflowers. I took a special interest in the brightness of the Indian Paintbrush. I have been in the high country many times, but never had I seen such vibrant and brilliant colors for this particular variety. As always, my mind was turned to God's creative genius. I see this wonderful gems in the high country, far away from the bustle of the city, and I realize that He has created these blessings chiefly for His pleasure. In His love for us, He has allowed us to enjoy them as well.

This brings me to the wonder of the human eye, which God has so amazingly designed to enable us to behold His beauty. This is the subject of another topic, but if you want to read a great description of what actually has to take place before sight can occur, read a book called Darwin's Black Box by Michael Behe. This man is not a professing Christian, but he is certainly one to be honest about the idea of intelligent design.
